Austrian Airlines: Operational transition to Tyrolean heading towards the finishing line


Next weekend, all of the flight operations of the Austrian Airlines Group, which has a fleet of some 80 aircraft, will be bundled at its 100% subsidiary Tyrolean Airways. More than 50% of all Austrian flights are already being "operated by Tyrolean", especially those in Austria and to Central and Eastern Europe. As of July 1, Tyrolean will also operate the long-distance fleet.

United Airlines Launches Daily Service From Newark To Istanbul


United Airlines introduces its first-ever service to Turkey this weekend with the launch of daily nonstop service between Newark Liberty International Airport and Istanbul's Ataturk International Airport, beginning July 1.

Flight 904 is scheduled to depart Newark Liberty daily at 7:27 p.m. and arrive in Istanbul at 12:20 p.m. the next day.

Tuesday, June 26, 2012 - The Silversea Group announced that it has purchased Canodros SA, the premier Ecuadorian tourism company that operates in the Galapagos Islands, and their upmarket expedition ship, Galapagos Explorer II. Silversea plans to add Galapagos Explorer II to its ultra-luxury fleet of six ships next year, after the all-suite, 100-guest vessel undergoes a major refurbishment in September 2013 and is given a new name, steps that will ensure consistency with the standards of the Silversea fleet. CEB sustains cargo lead in Q1 2012; to expand domestic network


Cebu Pacific (PSE:CEB) transported more domestic cargo than other airlines in the 1st quarter (Q1) of 2012, according to recently released Civil Aeronautics Board data.

New Zealand's International visitor arrivals up 4 per cent for the year


Statistics released confirmed year-on-year growth in international visitor arrivals of 4.0 per cent, with 2.6 million arrivals to New Zealand for the year ending May 2012. Maintaining year-on-year growth across the low season is a positive sign for the industry says Tourism New Zealand Chief Executive Kevin Bowler. "We first saw this number of overseas visitors in December 2011, when arrivals topped 2.6 million for the first time.

The 2012 JAL Scholarship Program for Asia & Oceania Students


The JAL Foundation - a cultural arm of Japan Airlines, will hold the 43rd JAL Scholarship Program in Japan for 19 university undergraduates from ten countries and regions across Asia from June 27 to July 17, 2011.

The 21-day program includes a wide variety of activities such as lectures in Tokyo, the Asia Forum in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, and a field trip to Iwate in North East Japan that is jointly organized with East Japan Railway Culture Foundation.

Port of Rotterdam Authority positive about North Rhine-Westphalia coalition agreement


The Port of Rotterdam Authority is positive about the coalition agreement approved by SPD and B90/Die Grünen last week in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW). ‘The coalition agreement offers various starting points to further intensify cooperation between NRW and Rotterdam in the coming years. Our interests and our visions run largely in parallel, particularly concerning making industry sustainable, strengthening logistics between NRW and its most important sea port, and stimulating inland shipping,’ stated Hans Smits, CEO of the Port of Rotterdam Authority.
